Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are you certified, licensed and insured?
Yes, I am a certified permanent makeup artist and a licensed Esthetician and Tattoo Artist. I carry professional insurance.

2. What is Eyebrow Microblading
It is a semi-permanent makeup method; the technique is natural feathering of hair-like strokes directly on the skin’s surface that creates natural-looking eyebrows. Eyebrow Microblading creates a background and fills in areas of the eyebrows that looked empty so that a fuller look is accomplished. The Eyebrow Microblading method can fill in sparse brows, which makes it the perfect procedure for men and women.

3. What is a ombre Eyebrow Tattoo? Instead of creating hair strokes eyebrow like Microblading, this technique is natural shading with a gradient effect from the beginning of the brow to the end starting from light and fading to dark, to give your brow the defined yet natural look.

4. Does it hurt?
We get mixed reviews on pain. Everyone has a different level of sensitivity so topical anesthetics are applied during the treatment to alleviate any sensation or discomfort. Most of my clients feel so relaxed the take a nap. You will hear a scratch noise/ sensation throughout. Music is usually played during the procedure, however feel free to bring your own ear phones and music to distract you.

5. Is it safe?
Absolutely. Sterilized, disposable needles and supplies are used during the process.

6. Will I be swollen?
You may be swollen and you may have slightly red skin around eyebrows, but this would last no more than 24 hours.

7. Will I need a touch up?
Most likely. Within a week of your first treatment the color will fade significantly and over the next four to six weeks can continue to fade as much as 50%. This is considered an extremely positive occurrence as it allows you time to reflect on your shape and color. After this period your follow-up appointment is carried out. At this point any changes you would like to make are discussed.

8. How often do I need a touch up?
In order to keep your eyebrow tattoo results looking fresh, we recommend a touch up every year and a half to 2-3 years. The more time in between each touchup, the better. I like to see at least a 50% fade of ink saturation in between each session for best long term results.

9. How long does it last?
It will last as long as it’s maintained. Untouched, the ink can last up to 3-5+ years.

10. Why do I need a touch up if this is semi-permanent?
Because color is implanted in the facial area there tends to be more fluid circulation than other parts of the body. Also, your face sees the most wear of any piece of you—exposure to the sun, pollutants, facial products—the list goes on and on. All of these things cause permanent color to fade, this is why you need a touch ups.

11. How long does it take?
The procedure takes roughly about two hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Please allow a solid 3-hour window for your appointment. I likely won’t need that much time, but this isn’t something I want to rush.

12. Do I need to take a day off work?
No. There’s no downtime associated with the treatment. Redness and swelling will dissipate within an hour after. Your brows will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from your activities of daily living.

13. How long does it take to heal?
Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a week to ten days for the epithelial crust(scabbing/flaking) to form and slough off. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. At least 4-6 weeks should pass before I consider the process complete and fully healed.

14. What’s the process like?
Eyebrow tattooing is a two-step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then a touch up between 5 to 12 weeks after.
After taking your before photo, I will draw the brow design in pencil so you get an idea of shape and form. (Please note that nobody’s face is totally symmetrical and you need to be realistic with your expectations. There is no point in trying to make the eyebrows identical or match a photo of your favorite celebrities' eyebrows if your face shape looks nothing like theirs). Once we have agreed on a final shape (ultimately it is your decision – but I will always voice my opinion on what I think suits you aesthetically), then we will decide on the color. This is a 2-3 pass process with the first pass being without numbing cream. Before the second and third pass numbing cream will be applied.
During healing, it's normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why we have the touch up in place.

15. What can’t I do after the procedure?
You are advised to keep the skin clean and dry - that means no swimming, sweating or otherwise getting the area wet; no tanning or prolonged sun exposure; no picking, peeling, scratching or rubbing the tattoo, this may result in a loss of color and scarring. You can still wash your hair and face and once they’re healed up, you treat them as your own.

16. How do I extend the life of the procedure?
Your beautiful eyebrows will last longer if you apply sun block often and avoid abrasive facial treatments and retinol in the brow and forehead area.

17. How many colors do you have?
Many. I can blend more than 1 to achieve more shades to suit the client. ALL clients who have had the procedure done will be conscious they have brows that are very obvious, however please bear in mind, the skin has been broken to allow the pigment to settle, and healing has yet to take place. This is why I ask you to bring your eyebrow pencil (if you use one) with you at appointment - so I can match the pigment to the desired HEALED RESULT, which emerges after the crusts naturally fall off and the skin gently exfoliates naturally itself to reveal the new brow. Clients who are used to having no brows for a long time, can find this few weeks challenging. I usually advise clients who have no brows to start wearing pencil or brow shading for some time before the process so they get used to having a brow!

18. Do you have to shave off my own eyebrows?
No. Every attempt is made to retain all natural hair and integrate it into the design of the permanent eyebrows. In some cases, where shaping of the natural brow is required, a few hairs here and there may need to be removed to create a clean and aesthetically pleasing result.

19. I have heard some clients just do not retain pigment even after a few visits. Could this happen?
Yes, it does happen and yes it's true!
A third appointment can be set up so the client has the opportunity to return and I get the chance to review the work and sort out (if any) tweaks that might need to be done. Often times the clients cancel this apt as all is usually well, however there are the occasional few that may need one or two extra strokes to finish off the look. Some skin may react to the trauma of the tattooing, and the skin may try to push out the foreign body of pigment by producing an extreme scab, so they eventually fall off taking all the pigment with it. There is a condition called Pigment Allergy (PPD Allergy, a condition known by dermatologists) or Auto Immune disease symptoms (the client may not even be aware of it) where the skin can over react and become super sensitive to the pigment and reject it at any cost.

20. Can you guarantee your work?
Unfortunately, I can not. How the skin will react is different for everyone and many factors are to be taken into consideration. Skin type, age, scarring, diet, stress levels, facial products used, etc. all play a key role in how the pigment will hold, which is why it is important to know that more than one touch up may be required.
I can guarantee that your face is important to me and that I will act in accordance with my experience and expertise to give you my absolute best. I can guarantee that I will strive to make you satisfied and content every time. But there are no guarantees in this industry. Please think long and hard before you decide to go for it.

21. What if I don’t like it?
Although Microblading or Ombre Eyebrow Tattoo is considered to be semi-permanent, the procedure does allow flexibility for color or shape change to some extent. However, I will work closely with you to ensure that you are satisfied with the proposed technique. I will allow you to have as much control over the procedure as possible, so there’s very little room for error. If you do not like the decision you made, the touch up can be cancelled and the pigmented area naturally fades away over time. If you aren’t 100% sure you would benefit from this procedure, please opt for a more temporary option.

Please read through the before and aftercare info before setting your consultation appointment to ensure that you are an ideal candidate for permanent makeup. Please do not bring children or pets to your appointment. 48 hour cancellations are required for all appointments, if client does not cancel on time or show up, 50% fee will be charged.

BEFORE TREATMENT:

Permanent cosmetic enhancements normally require multiple application sessions. To achieve the best results, you will be required to return for at least one control procedure 5 to 12 weeks after the initial application.

This is not recommended for those with diabetes, viral infections and/or diseases, those undergoing chemotherapy(consult with your doctor), has a pacemaker or major heart problems, has an organ transplant, or have used Accutane in the past 12 months. Smoking may cause different results and a longer healing time. Must be 18 or older. Can not be pregnant or breast feeding. A 48 hour minimum notice must be given for cancellation or rescheduing. The deposit is NON- REFUNDABLE.

  • Do not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.

  • Do not take aspirin or Ibuprofen 24 hours prior to and after your enhancement. No alcohol 72 hours prior, no caffeine 24 hours prior. Do not take Fish oil or Vitamin E one week prior to appointment. Also, please refrain from all 24 hours post appointment as they are all natural blood thinners and may result in less retention and/or heavy scabbing.

  • Do not use Retin A skincare products close to the enhancement area 1 month prior to and never on forehead after as it can travel to your eyebrows.

  • Do not use AHA skincare products close to the enhancement area 2 weeks prior to and after your procedure.

  • Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for 2 weeks after your enhancement.

  • No tint should be visible on skin, ex:from henna.

  • Do not have botox 3 weeks prior to the appointment.

  • Do not tan face 2 weeks prior. SUNBURNED OR PEELING SKIN WILL RESULT IN RESCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENT.

  • If you are getting a COVID-19 vaccine, PMU will not be performed 2 weeks prior or post. Please let me know if this applies.

  • The night before your treatment please gently but efficiently cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize the brow area. Any flaky or extremely dry skin will lead to improper ink implantation.

  • If any blemishes or wounds are in the treatment area please let me know as your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

  • Please let your hair grow as I will use all I can to achieve the best shape.

  • If you get cold easily you may want to bring a blanket to your appointment.

    AFTER TREATMENT

*Pat first 10 minutes every 30 seconds*

 (Microblading & Ombre)

Wash until scabbing/flaking has formed

  • Gently wash the area each morning, and night with water and gentle soap or an unscented cleanser. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the area for 10 seconds. Rinse thoroughly.

  • To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants

Moisturize and hydrate until scabbing is gone

  • Apply a tiny, rice grain amount of balm after washing and brows are completely dry with clean fingers, patting lightly.

  • Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The product should be barely noticeable on the skin.

  • NEVER put the product on a wet or damp tattoo.

Important Reminders

  • Avoid getting brows wet and them staying wet until scabbing is done.

  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

  • No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week- can alter color and push out ink.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • Avoid topical makeup, sunscreen, lotion, serums, etc. on the area until scabbing/flaking subsides

  • Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep

  • DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

Please Note:

Subjective effect on different individuals, e.g. skin types that affect the attachment of color. Most clients will need two sessions, some will only need one and some will need a third touchup to complete the look at an extra charge.
